Vacancy for Chemical Engineer

Brief description of UFAZ: UFAZ is an ambitious project initiated by the Presidents of the French Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014. It is administered by the historic university of Azerbaijan - the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) from the Azerbaijani side and the prestigious University of Strasbourg (Unistra) from the French side.

UFAZ delivers 2 national diplomas (French and Azerbaijani) at the Bachelor level in the following specialties: Computer Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Geophysics, Oil and Gas engineering. And at the Master level in the following specialties: Data bases and artificial intelligence, Chemical engineering, Physical chemistry/cheminformatics, Geosciences. Tuition language is English.

Position description:

Position name: Chemical Engineer

Position in the organizational structure: Attached to the Chemical Engineering department of the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), will be in charge of the technical part for research activities in the Chemical Engineering field.
Type of contract: Full-time
Start date: Early January

Job Description:

• Operates experimental equipment, analyzes, exploits, validates and interprets results;
• Determines the procedures and conditions for sample preparation
• Provides with advices in the choice and implementation of chemical analysis techniques and methods (spectroscopies, spectrometry, electrochemistry, separation techniques, unit operations);
• Develops new analytical methods specific to the field;
• Organizes training and supervision of users, transfers skills through training activities (continuing education and research training);
• Establishes technology development partnerships with suppliers or academic partners;
• Determines specifications and manages the acquisition of new equipment, from the identification of the need to the final purchase;
• Ensures that potential safety issues related to the project operator, the environment, the process and the product are considered at all stages.

NamİZƏDƏ TƏLƏBLƏR

Requirements:

• Master Degree in Chemical Engineering;
• Fluency in English and Azerbaijani;
• Knowledge of chemical analysis techniques;
• Quality concepts applied to chemical analysis techniques;
• Mathematical and computer skills which for necessary for the exploitation of the results;
• Relevant experience in Chemical Engineering field;
• Skill for using software to interpret the results;
• Skill for using equipment control and data acquisition systems;
• Knowledge for applying health and safety rules;
• The ability to work as part of a team.
